Van Off Road In Snowy Conditions
Sun. Jan 19th 2020

Sandy Hook VFR and Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Corps were dispatched at 08:57 Sunday morning to respond to the area of 13 Lakeview Terrace, where the driver of a vehicle was reporting chest and arm pain following a motor vehicle accident.

First Assistant Chief Ryan Clark and Second Assistant Chief Andy Ryan were first to the scene, and reported a 2004 Ford Econoline van had crossed the roadway and gone down an embankment, stopping in a ditch. The vehicle landed about 10 feet off the roadway. First Assistant Chief Clark took command of the scene.

Engine 442 and Rescue 444 both responded with crews. Traffic was temporarily reduced to alternating lanes while first responders were on the scene due to the narrow, winding roadway.

The driver, a 52-year-old male, and his adult male passenger were both checked for injuries, and then transported to a hospital.

Sandy Hook returned to service at 09:36.
