Fully Engulfed Car Fire
Fri. May 29th 2020

Sandy Hook VFR and Newtown Hook & Ladder were dispatched at 6:49 am to I-84 West between Exits 10 and 9 for a reported fully involved car fire.

CT State Troopers, who reported the fire, initially indicated wires were close to the vehicle, which was also reported to be near the Parmalee Hill Road overpass.

Sandy Hook Engine 441 responded with a crew, as did Hook & Ladder Engine 111.

Firefighters found the vehicle as reported upon arrival, although there were no wires close enough to cause concern for the first responders. Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire.

The driver was able to exit the vehicle without injury.

Sandy Hook returned to service at 07:28.
