Funeral For A Firefighter
Fri. May 4th 2018

Friends and family, including his firehouse family, said their final farewell to SHVFR Firefighter Tyler Hoffman on Friday, May 4.

FF Hoffman, 24, had passed away unexpectedly less than a week earlier, on April 29.

Calling hours had been held Thursday, May 3, at Honan Funeral Home, and included an honor guard next to FF Hoffman's casket.

His funeral service was Friday morning at St Rose of Lima Roman Catholic Church. Engine 442, Tyler's favorite piece of apparatus, served as the hearse.

Engineer Pete Baressi offered a eulogy during the Funeral Mass, which elicited laughter and tears.

Rescue 444 and the company's OIC served as part of the procession, as did wreckers and tow trucks from Brookside Auto Salvage and Hilario's. The procession passed Sandy Hook's main station, where apparatus had been pulled out and a firefighter salute was offered as the procession made its way to St Rose Cemetery.
