Church Hill Road car fire (Monday, June 23, 2025)

Sandy Hook VFR and Newtown Hook & Ladder were dispatched at 06:59 to the area of Main Street and Church Hill Road, in Hook & Ladder’s district, for a possible car fire.

SHVFR Fire Police Shannon Will found the vehicle in front of 13 Church Hill Road, and reported the updated location to responding units. The male driver of the sedan was out of and away from the vehicle.

Flames were showing within the engine-dashboard area, FP Will also reported.

Hook & Ladder Firefighter Tim Gies arrived next and confirmed the scene. 

Hook & Ladder Chief Engineer Mike Aurelia arrived on H&L Engine 111 and took command of the scene.

Sandy Hook 441 and Tanker 449 also responded with crews.

Firefighters were able to fully extinguish the fire.

Church Hill Road was closed between its intersections with Queen and Main streets. There were no injuries. 

Firefighters cleared from the scene at 07:40.
