EV Driver Uninjured After Vehicle Goes Over Guardrail, Down Embankment (Tuesday, September 16, 2025)

Sandy Hook VFR was dispatched at 15:38 to the area of 186 Berkshire Road, between that road’s intersections with Tanglewood Lane and Thunder Ridge Road, for a reported vehicle in ditch. Newtown Police were already on the scene and reporting no injuries.

Upon arrival, Lieutenant Archie Paloian confirmed a 2023 Chevrolet Bolt that had been traveling east on the state road had gone over a steel guardrail and then down a steep embankment.

The vehicle stopped approximately 20 feet into the woods. The male driver was out of the vehicle, and still reporting no injuries.

First Assistant Chief Andy Ryan assumed command upon his arrival.

Firefighters assisted with traffic while a team from Modzelewski’s Recovery & Repair removed the vehicle from the woods. Alternating directions of traffic were allowed past the scene while the Modzelewski’s employees were working.

First responders cleared at 16:28.
