Two-Car Crash On Berkshire Road (Tuesday, January 20, 2026)

Sandy Hook VFR, Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Corps, a paramedic and Newtown Police were dispatched at 06:18 to Berkshire Road east of its intersection with Zoar Road for a reported two-vehicle crash. First responders were told one person was not moving, and the other was out of their vehicle, walking around
Upon arrival First Assistant Chief Andy Ryan confirmed the crash, with heavy damage to both vehicles. 403 called for a second ambulance to be dispatched at that time. A Nuvance ambulance responded to the crash.
Rescue 444 and Engine 442 responded to the scene. Engine 441 and a crew stood by at Sandy Hook’s main station.
The road was closed between its intersections with Bennetts Bridge and Sherman Street.
Firefighters popped the door of the 2016 Subaru Impreza. The driver of that vehicle was then transported ALS.
The driver of the second vehicle, a 2018 Chevrolet Equinox, was transported BLS.
Firefighters cleared debris from the road and waited for the wrecker.
Sandy Hook returned to service at 07:31.
