Pickup Truck Destroyed In Fire Following Rolloever (Wednesday, October 28, 2026)
Sandy Hook VFR, Botsford Fire Rescue, Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Corps, a paramedic and Newtown Police all responded to the area of 98 Berkshire Road around 11:40 pm Wednesday, October 28, after a truck went over the guardrail there.
A 20-year old male was operating a 2020 Ford F150 Supercrew eastbound on the state road when the truck went off the roadway and struck the end of a guardrail and then a telephone pole. The truck rolled over, landed on its roof, and became engulfed in flames while surrounded by low hanging electrical wires.
The driver and his 19-year-old female passenger self-extricated from the vehicle. They were checked for injuries, with both declining transport to the hospital.
Eversource was called to the scene, and disconnected power to the area before the fire could be fully extinguished.
Modzelewski’s assisted with removing the debris left by the fire. Berkshire Road was fully closed for a few hours; alternating lanes of traffic were later allowed to pass through while Eversource employees continued to repair the lines.
Botsford returned to service at 00:44. Sandy Hook continued overall, and then cleared from the scene at 0140.
