Early Morning Single Vehicle Rollover (Sunday, November 23)

Sandy Hook VFR, Newtown Hook & Ladder, Newtown Police, Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Corps, and a paramedic were dispatched to the area of 1 Riverside Road at 02:06 for a reported one-vehicle rollover with entrapment.

Newtown PD officers were first to arrive on scene and reported the driver was out of the vehicle. Hook & Ladder was canceled at that time.

SHVFR First Assistant Chief Andy Ryan assumed command upon his arrival and confirmed a passenger vehicle was on its roof in the eastbound travel lane of Riverside. The vehicle, a 2018 Toyota Corolla, had gone off the southern shoulder and collided with and destroyed a lamp post, clipped the guy line of a utility pole, and clipped a stone wall before returning to the roadway, eventually ending up on its roof.

Sandy Hook Engine 441 responded with a crew.

NVAC and the medic transported the driver ALS.

Riverside was closed between Sandy Hook Center and Apex Glas while firefighters and police officers continued to work the scene. Modz Towing did the tow, and Eversource responded to the scene.

Sandy Hook cleared at 03:17.

The Corolla clipped a utility pole guy wire and a stone wall, then hit a lamp post (above) before returning to the road and ending up on its roof.
