Driver Uninjured After Vehicle Drives Partially Into Building (Monday, November 24, 2025)

Newtown Hook & Ladder, Sandy Hook VFR, Newtown Ambulance Corps and Newtown Police Department were all dispatched at 10:30 Monday, November 24, to Queen Street Shopping Center for a reported car into building with possible entrapment.

SHVFR First Assistant Chief Andy Ryan was first to arrive on the scene. He confirmed a passenger vehicle had crashed into the door of Newtown Nail Spa. Ryan further reported no extrication was needed, and no serious injuries were visible to the driver nor anyone inside the salon. The vehicle had caused significant damage to the nail salon and an adjacent bank branch, however.

Hook & Ladder Chief Engineer Mike Aurelia assumed command upon his arrival. H&L Engine 113 responded with a crew.

Sandy Hook Rescue 444 was ready to respond with a crew but was then held at station. A fire marshal and a building inspector also responded to the crash.

The female driver of the vehicle, a 2014 Toyota Camry, was checked for injuries and declined transport to a hospital.

Firefighters secured the building, including utilities to the salon and the affected area of the bank.

They also taped off the area around the vehicle before returning to service at 11:01.
