Sandy Hook VFR welcomed Mission CIT instructors Eric and Justin for an evening training session.
Members broke into two groups, with one session focused on chainsaws and the other going over roof saws. Each instructor covered basic checks, safe use and applications before the groups rotated between the two stations.
Members of Sandy Hook Volunteer Fire & Rescue spent part of the morning of Sunday, November 9 doing driver recertification. Stations and courses were set up at multiple locations withing our district, where drivers were tested on different pieces of apparatus.
Pump operations were also tested during the annual training.

Sandy Hook VFR started the new year with its first training session of the month, led by MissionCIT Instructors Bill Stacey and Tim DeBaise. The focus was on airpacks.
Members began with a brief classroom session, during which they went over the equipment and uses in different scenarios.
Another great night of training, this time ladder and exterior ops, with Mission CIT.
Working with SHVFR’s Training Committee, CIT Instructors Bret Newport and Pat O’Shea opened the July 22 training with a quick briefing in our meeting room. The leaders went over different structure fire scenarios before moving everyone outdoors, where they had opportunities to work at multiple stations.
Firefighters worked on hose lines, setting up and breaking down hydrants, working with Quint 400 and its lines, and pumping water through Engine 441 and Tanker 449.
